I'm a local and have always liked Lola's on 4th Street, but recently decided to try the one in Bixby Knolls. The first time I had their chilaquiles, I wasn't impressed, so I stopped coming. However, I saw they had Jalisco tacos on the menu and decided to give them another shot. The service was excellent! The staff was very friendly and greeted me as soon as I walked in. My server was knowledgeable and answered all my questions. She even recommended a new drink called the spicy pineapple drink, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! It wasn't spicy, but it was incredibly flavorful, and OMG, it made me so happy. Haha! The Jalisco tacos were packed with flavor, and the presentation was neat. The portions were generous, so I had to take some home. The ambiance was great, with wonderful music playing, and the bartender--I'm pretty sure her name is Sailor--knows exactly how to mix that pineapple drink! This is a great hangout spot, and the food is decent. So far, I've tried the chilaquiles, the concha, the green chile, and the tamales (when they're in season). I definitely need to try more of their menu! Overall, I would go back just for that drink, and I really hope they keep it on the menu. The tamarind around the glass rim was my favorite part--it added the perfect touch.

We were in Bixby Knolls to drop off our taxes and found this place advertising a weekend brunch so we popped in. Brunch starts ar 10, about the time we arrived and there already a few tables seated. We ordered a scramble and burrito from the brunch menu. We were hungry so we ate copious amounts of chips and salsa (house made and yummy). Coffee had a hint of cinnamon and the food was beautiful and delicious. Portions were hearty and the value was exceptional. Our entrees averaged $15 each and we walked out with coffees to go. We sat in the booth, but there were tables and high tops. I don't think brunch is their main thing. There is a nice bar an extensive menu of more traditional lunch and dinner entrees. We will definitely go back to try the moles and check out the evening vibe.

Lola's 2 days in a row. My coworkers brought back lunch for me, then the next day, we all went together! Lol. This is a cute spot right on the corner with cute patio seating. It was too cold so we decided to eat inside. Their menu is pretty! Leather bound and embossed! Salmon Ceviche Crudo - passion fruit, mango and lime flavors - this was delicious! The flavors all came together really well. My only preference would be to cut the salmon in smaller cubes. Otherwise, a must get! Queso Fundito - everyone loved this! Definitely cheesy with the cheese pull. Comp Chips and Salsa - loved both salsas! The creamy avocado was cooling and the roasted salsa had a great smokey flavor. Chips were fresh! Baja Shrimp Burrito - my coworkers brought this back for me and it was great! It is a huge portion! I probably only ate half the burrito and hunted for the rest of the shrimp. Grilled shrimp were huge and in every bite. The pico is a bit spicy but good. Love the chipotle crema! I'd get this again Surf and Turf Queso Tacos - the steak and grilled shrimp were super yum with the cheese. However, they are pretty greasy. I'd probably get the regular tacos next time. I asked for a side of the chipotle crema and put some on this, yum! Cloud 9 - pink guava and coconut cream with shredded toasted coconut on top. Yum! Parking is street only so we got to park about 2 blocks away. I'd suggest coming at an odd time to get better parking as there were many spots open when we left. Definitely recommended!

It has been quite a while since our last visit to Lola's. Why, you ask. I haven't the slightest idea. Now to our visit. We were promptly greeted and seated. Our server answered our questions regarding the menu. She was very helpful. Our meals were served promptly. The dishes are different from what you may be used to seeing from your usual Mexican restaurant. Our view in this case different is a good thing. My wife's shrimp tacos were as advertised...SHRIMP! These babies were full of those seafood gems. I had a taco dish offering 3 different types of fillings, with beans and rice. We will be re-visiting Lola's in the near future. We expect to explore the menu, trying more of their treasures.

We order from Lola's a lot!!! We stopped here for dinner one night with the dogs and sat outside. Of course, most people are familiar with their amazing green salsa. It's very addictive. Their margaritas are also not a joke!! So good! I've had many items - some favorites - Cochinita Pibil, Enchiladas Suiza, Bixby Knolls Burrito, Shrimp Burrito and on this visit the Tiajuana Tacos which were amazing. Service was good, a little slow - but they had a special event going on. They were responsive to our requests. It was nice sitting outside and enjoying the evening. Oh and they brought water for dogs!

Oh so good.... It was my first time here. I pass by this place all the time but always on my way to eat somewhere else haha. I finally made the conscious decision to eat here and I'm so glad I did. I was worried it would be busy because it's a Friday night and it seems to be a popular spot. Fortunately we were seated right away. The place is not very big but there is outdoor seating. It has a narrow shape with bar seating on one side, high tops in the middle, and booths on the other side. There are also a few regular tables in the front. Beware the sun may hit you right in the face in the late afternoon if you're in a booth facing front. All the dishes we tried were delicious. You're served chips right away which comes with a yummy roasted salsa (with a kick) and an avocado crema dip (not spicy). I had the Birria Guadalajara which was insanely good and had just the right amount of kick without being overwhelming - or lingering. Others in my party had the cochinita and mole negro. Also the flan was tasty. I'm not usually a fan of Mexican flan but this one I liked. Service was efficient and friendly. Our server gave a few good recommendations including a yummy white sangria I had. We got a discount for checking in through Yelp which was a nice surprise. I believe there's also a Yelp waiting list which is helpful for peak times. Parking seems to be street only.
